Talensi MP resigns; Seat declared vacant

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Talensi Constituency, Robert Mosore has resigned.

This follows his enskinment as the Paramount Chief for the Talensi Traditional Area.

Consequently, the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, Tuesday morning declared the seat vacant in conformity with Article 97 (1).

The Speaker was scheduled to rule on the MP’s position following a heated debate in Parliament last week.

However, when the issue was raised in Parliament Tuesday the Speaker announced Mr Mosore’s had turned in his resignation letter.

According to him, he held a close door session with the former Talensi MP Monday during which he notified him of his intention to step down.

Mr Doe Adjaho has, therefore, directed the Clerk of Parliament to notify the Electoral Commission to take steps in organising a bye-election.
