Take up positions at branch levels - NDC TEIN members urged

The National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr George Opare Addo, has urged members of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the NDC to take up leadership positions at the branch levels of the party to strengthen the party’s intellectual base at that level.

According to him, the party’s chances of recapturing power in the 2024 elections could be enhanced if TEIN members played active and committed roles at the polling station levels.

“I, therefore, entreat you to come out in your numbers to be elected at the branch levels in order to be actively involved in party activities towards rescuing the country from the hands of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP),” he stated.

General meeting

Mr Opare Addo said this during a general meeting of TEIN members, the student wing of the NDC, at the Ajumako Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), last Saturday.

The meeting attracted other leading members of the NDC including the National Women’s Organiser, Dr Hannah Louisa Bissiw; former Upper East Regional Minister, Prof. Ephraim Avea Nsoh; the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast North, Dr Kwamena Minta Nyarku, and the Central Regional Youth Organiser, Mr Eric Dadson.

2024 elections

He said the NDC needed the commitment and strong activism of TEIN, particularly at the branch levels, to be able to sell its life-changing ideas and policies to Ghanaians in the run-up to the 2024 general election.

“Indeed, the next general election is a make or break for the NDC but the party will marshal all forces together with the TEIN members to prosecute an effective and efficient political campaign to win the mandate of the people,” he said.

Mr Opare Addo urged them to work extra hard for the party “to recapture power in 2024 to fix the mess created by the NPP government and create more opportunities for the benefit of the youth”.

He urged Ghanaians and the voices of conscience to be bold, fearless and speak out vehemently against the ills in society.

For her part, Dr Bissiw said the party’s victory in the 2024 election could be realised only if party members came out in their numbers to vigorously campaign to win the hearts of Ghanaians.

She admonished party members to put the party’s interest above their individual interests and work towards securing a resounding victory in 2024, saying “I wish to call on all party members to sacrifice their time and energy to campaign to rescue the country from the under-performing NPP administration”.
