According to him, the district due to its unique location has the enabling environment that will enable businesses to contribute to its development .

He noted that the government recognised the private sector as a key partner towards achieving economic growth and that the government through the assembly was ready to partner private entities towards the progress of the nation.

Business forum

Mr Kojo Otoo said this when he addressed a business forum organised by the district assembly at Buduburam to inform the business community on the numerous business opportunities available in the district which they can take advantage of.

The objective of the business engagement was to demystify the perception of the public over the years that the assembly was only interested in collecting taxes from businesses operating in the district without having their interest at heart.

Again, it was intended to stimulate local economic activity by harnessing the potential of the assembly by the business community in order to facilitate the growth and development of the district.

He said the assembly had removed all the bottlenecks and impediments that prevented the private businesses adding that “the assembly has created a safe haven for the private sector to flourish”.

“I, therefore, extend the warmest invitation to investors and private firms to come and invest heavily in the district to propel its growth,” he pointed out.

Land guard scare

“The activities of land guards who continuously terrorise business entities have been tackled seriously and that the assembly would not allow such individuals to drive investors away,” he said.

Presentation

In a power point presentation, the District Coordinating Director, Mr Emmanuel Baisie said that the assembly had established a technology village and market complex project on a 50 acre land at Gomoa Akoti as one of its Local Economic Development (LED) flagship projects.

According to him, the project has room for light industrial area, arts and craft, lorry station, hotels, fuel station, technical training centre, police and fire station and school, among others.

He explained that the assembly had large arable land for agricultural production, lands for tourism, housing and industrial development, fish farming as well as the stone quarry industry.
