To streamline access to learning materials, the tablets will facilitate access to electronic textbooks and other relevant materials that will aid learning by students.

The pilot if proven successful will be replicated across the country, President John Mahama has said.

Presenting highlights on the 2016 National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto, President Mahama said government will strengthen its resolve to eliminate schools under trees by 2021 as well as provide free school uniforms and free exercise books and free school sandals to students.

The event is a prelude to the main Manifesto launch on Saturday September 17, in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Among other things the President promised to expand the free school feeding programme, increase the capitation grant by %100 as well complete the remainder of 200 community day senior high schools he promised in his 2012 manifesto.
