Prez worships at ICGC

President John Dramani Mahama last Sunday worshipped at the Holy Ghost Temple of  the International Central Gospel  Church (ICGC) at Adentan in Accra where he expressed the hope that God will reward him with victory in the December 7 election.

As a committed Christian, he said he believed that it was God who chose kings and expressed optimism that from the work his government had done, the good Lord who made him President in 2012 would once again work through the people of Ghana to retain him as President.

President Mahama, who is a member of  the Ringway Gospel Centre branch of the Assemblies of God Church, occasionally joins the congregation at the Holy Ghost Temple ICGC in worship.

Last Sunday’s church service was spiced with praise and worship songs as the President joined the congregation to dance.

Peace

President Mahama reassured the nation that he would do everything possible to maintain Ghana as an oasis of peace.

He said as the nation inched closer to the general election, it was also incumbent on all Ghanaians to avoid acts that could mar the peace and unity of the nation.

Taking time to mention some of the specific areas where his government had made remarkable achievements, President Mahama told the congregation that the evidence was there for all to see.

In energy, for instance, the President said the power crisis that confronted the nation was now a thing of the past as the government had worked hard to improve on power generation.

In the areas of roads, water, health and education,  President Mahama stated that significant successes had been achieved.

He debunked the assertion by his political opponents that the economy was in crisis and argued that the evidence on the ground (backed by figures and predictions from internationally recognised institutions) indicated the nation was on the path of progress.

While commending the church for its contribution towards the socio-economic development, the President gave an assurance that the government would continue to consider the church as a true partner in national development.

Sermon

The Head Pastor of the Church, Prophet Christopher Yaw Annor, in a sermon, said the hand of God was on the nation even as elections approached.

Over the years, he said the Lord had guided and guarded the country's peace, unity and political stability and believed that the nation would successfully go through the election challenge this year.

For that reason, he said it was befitting for the churches in the country to continue praying for the nation.

Quoting extensively from the scriptures, Prophet Annor said any leader who forgot God was bound to fail and added that it was for that reason that he commended President Mahama for not forgetting his God who made him leader of the nation, and also as he sought a second term in office.
