Prez Mahama, Akufo-Addo verify names in register

President John Dramani Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday verified their names in the biometric voters’ register.

The President, who is seeking re-election in the December 7 presidential election on the ticket of the ruling party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), verified his name at his native Bole in the Northern Region, while Nana Akufo-Addo, the flag bearer of the dominant opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), verified his name in his hometown, Kyebi, in the Eastern Region.

It was a rainy day in Bole  and President Mahama walked through the rains to the exhibition centre to verify his name.

He had no problems in locating his name in the voters register and expressed satisfaction with  the process.

Akufo-Addo satisfied

Nana Akufo-Addo, who verified his name at the Rock of Ages polling station at Kyebi,  also found his name in the voters’ register after he was taken through the procedure by the Electoral Commission officials..

The NPP flag bearer was in the company of the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Abuakwa South constituency, Mr Samuel Atta Akyea.

Nana Akufo-Addo going through the verification process 

Addressing journalists after the exercise, Nana Akufo-Addo expressed his satisfaction with the process, which he described as simple.

He added: “I have one vote in the bank for myself in this year’s presidential election.”

Nana Akufo-Addo urged NPP agents at the polling station to remain vigilant during the remainding days of the 21-day verification exercise.
