Prempeh College alumni congratulate NAPO on his selection as Bawumia's running mate
The 1985/87 Year Group of Prempeh College Old Students Association (Amanfoo 1985/87) has congratulated Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, on his selection as the running mate to the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the upcoming general election.
In a statement released on Tuesday [July 9, 2024], the association expressed their pride in NAPO’s achievements.

“It brings us great joy to see one of our classmates rise to become a Vice Presidential candidate in Ghana on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” the statement signed by Benjamin Kweku Acolatse, President of the 1985/87 year group read.
The association reminisced about NAPO’s journey at Prempeh College, where he started as a Form One student in 1980 and completed his sixth form in 1987. They highlighted his significant contributions to the school, including the naming of a house in his honour in 2023.
The statement highlighted that NAPO’s accomplishments have brought pride to Prempeh College and the entire Amanfoo community.
“NAPO’s commitment to Prempeh College and our alumni community has been exceptional,” the statement said. “From his early days as a young student to becoming a distinguished leader, he has always exemplified integrity and leadership.”
The association also acknowledged his political career, noting his service as a Member of Parliament for the Manhyia constituency from 2009 to 2012 and for the Manhyia South constituency from 2013 to date. Additionally, he served as Minister for Education from 2017 to 2020 and as Minister for Energy since 2021.
The Prempeh College Old Students Association expressed their confidence in NAPO’s ability to serve effectively as Vice President, pledging their support and prayers for his success in the upcoming election.
