Our campaign team solid — Kofi Adams

The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Adams, who now doubles as the coordinator for President John Dramani Mahama’s 2016 campaign team for the November polls, has described the 15-member team as a solid one which would work towards the re-election of the President.

Mr Adams declared, “The team is very solid. Everybody in this country understands that the best person for the job is President John Dramani Mahama. President Mahama is the best and he remains so.”

President John Mahama on Tuesday unveiled a 15-member campaign team, with the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, as chairman.

The decision was taken in consultation with the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party at a NEC meeting on Tuesday, July 5, 2016.

Some persons who led the President’s 2012 campaign such as Hanna Tetteh, Elvis Ankrah and Dr Omane Boamah, were missing from the list.

Mahama didn’t abandon anyone

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Wednesday, Mr Adams dismissed assertions that the President had abandoned the likes of Omane Boamah, Ms Tetteh and Mr Afriyie Ankrah.

He explained that the party decided to replace some supporting staff of the team with new members because those people were now playing other roles.

He further explained that every member of the party was effectively a member of the campaign to retain the President.

“The President has not, will not and has never thought of abandoning anybody. Everybody is included in this campaign. No one has been abandoned and everyone is going to play a role.

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs is the chief diplomat of the President and a candidate contesting an election. The other is the Chief Spokesperson who is also the linguist to the President, as far as issues of governance are concerned, so these persons have not been abandoned. They have their roles they have to play.”
