Osei-Prempeh eyes NPP Ashanti Regional chairmanship
A former Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General in the Kufuor administration, Mr Kwame Osei-Prempeh, has called on delegates to vote him into office as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the party’s upcoming regional executive election.

When voted into office, he will succeed the incumbent, Mr Frederick Freduah Anto, who has occupied the office from 2009 to date.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic in Kumasi, he affirmed his quest to unite party foot soldiers, show continuous love for one another and galvanise efforts to steer the party to victory in 2016.
He said he was guided by a personal common code -“unity” - which, to him, must be a core value to unite all factions within the party that must be done through experience and fortitude.
“Though I am not blowing my own trumpet, those who have known me have seen the man with the qualities of a good leader and that the time to serve my own people in the region and lead them for victory has come,” he stated.
Mr Osei-Prempeh, who doubles as the immediate past Member of Parliament for Nsuta-Kwaman-Beposo, said many staunch NPP members in the region would love to see an experienced leader with the demonstration of being God-fearing, hard-working, diligent, respectful, time-conscious, visionary, law-abiding and loving, among other good leadership qualities.
Most importantly, he said, when voted into office, he was capable of increasing the tally of presidential votes in the region in the next election.
Aged 57, he has served as MP for his constituency (Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo) since 1997 and it was not until he resolved not to contest the parliamentary primary in 2012 that he ceased to be on the floor of Parliament.
He had been chairman of the Parliamentary Committees of Works and Housing, Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Judiciary and Subsidiary Legislation.
Between June 2006 and January 2009, he was Deputy Attorney-General and Deputy Minister of Justice.
He also served as chairman of Ghana Supply Company from 2002 to 2009, Member of Prisons Service Council and Public Procurement Authority from June 2006 to January 2009.
For his educational background, Lawyer Osei-Prempeh attended the then Antoa Secondary School and Agona SDA Secondary school for his GCE O’ Level and SDA Secondary School, Bekwai, for his GCE A’ Level from 1972 to 1979.
He obtained BA (Social Sciences) in Law and Sociology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1982.
In 1987, he obtained a Qualifying Certificate in Law (QCL) from the University of Ghana and Barrister at Law (BL) from the Ghana Law School in 1989.He was called to the Ghana Bar in April, 1990 and was a private legal practitioner from 1990 to 1996 before he entered Parliament in 1997.
He obtained a Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security from Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre/GIMPA in June, 2012.
With a track record of deputy ministerial appointments, head of committees and long-term MP, he is likely to sway majority of votes from the delegates to actualise his win for the position.
