Odoley Sowah vows to reclaim La-Dade Kotopon seat for NDC
A Former Municipal Chief Executive of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA), Ms Rita Odoley Sowah, has stated ahead of the primary of the party that she will win the La Dade-Kotopon Parliamentary seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), come 2020.
According to her, she is optimistic of reclaiming the La parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when given the nod in the upcoming NDC primary towards the 2020 general election.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic at the inauguration of a Women’s Working Committee for the La Dade-Kotopon NDC, Ms Sowah said she would cause a stir in the primary slated for August 24, 2019 and go ahead to represent the constituents in Parliament.
The former MCE, who is the only female parliamentary aspirant in the La-Dade Kotopon NDC race, said she was poised to further make a difference in bringing growth to La-Dade Kotopon by working closely and involving policy makers to bring the desired growth to the constituency.
She maintained that her track record during her tenure as MCE would attest to the fact that she would deliver on her promises.
Vote for winnable candidates
For his part, the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mr Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, urged delegates in the upcoming primary to vote for candidates who would recapture their seats for the NDC in the 2020 elections.
He stressed that for the NDC to reclaim seats from the ruling party in the 2020 general election, party faithful must do away with divisive tendencies, particularly on their various social media platforms.
He said the party hierarchy had learnt with surprise how some members defamed others with impunity on their platforms.
Such acts, he said, would not help the party because they encouraged divisiveness, adding that the party would penalise anyone found culpable.
The Women’s Working Committee, which consists of the Political, Welfare and Social Services as well as the Finance committees, is expected to spearhead the agenda of the NDC in securing more votes at the constituency level and beyond in the 2020 general election.
La Dade-Kotopon seat
The La Dade-Kotopon seat which had been mostly dominated by the NDC was won by NPP’s Vincent Sowah Odotei after the incumbent, Nii Amasah Namoale, failed in his quest to retain the seat for a record fourth time in the 2016 general election.
Nii Amasah Namoale, who polled some 38,504 votes, was beaten by Vincent Sowah Odotei, a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Accra Hearts of Oak football club, who garnered 40,126 votes.
