Nzema East Assembly elects PM

A circuit supervisor of the Ghana Education Service, Mr Assuah Benie, has unanimously been elected the Presiding Member (PM) of the East Municipal Assembly, Nzema.

Mr Benie polled 28 out of the 29 votes cast.

He was sworn in by Mr Bitam Lari, the Presiding Judge of the Axim District Magistrate’s Court.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Benie expressed his profound gratitude to the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him.

He called for unity among the members and that if that was done, the future of the assembly would be bright.

He asked the assembly members not to allow tribalism to divide the assembly.

He entreated them to let their deliberations at meetings be constructive, adding that they should do away with the “do-and-let-me-see” attitude.

The election was conducted and supervised by the Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Stephen Opoku Mensah, his deputy, Mr Samuel Barnor, and the Municipal Electoral Officer, Nana Ama Ofori Twumwaah.

It was observed by the Western Regional Minister, Mr E.K.T Addo.
