NPP Suame constituency deserves office - Aspirant

One of the contenders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Suame Constituency primaries, Mr John Darko, has taken the stakes to win the hearts of the delegates to select him to replace the Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, to another level.

Popularly referred to as Lawyer Darko, he has bought a parcel of land for the constituency, registered it in the name of the constituency and promised to build the office complex within four years, when he was given the nod.

The Ghc 40,000 parcel of land is situated at the prime area of Breman within the constituency.

“Hold me to my word. I will deliver my promise to you,” he told the delegates when he showed them the original documents on the land which bore the name of NPP Suame Constituency.

Current Office

Presently, the two offices that the constituency is occupying were at the benevolence of one of the aspirants, Mr Kwadwo Boateng Genfi, the 56 year old Business Consultant. For past 12 years, he had accommodated the constituency for free of charge at one of the offices in his magnificent building in the constituency.

Lawyer Darko commended Mr Genfi, who is also referred to as Home Boy for his foresight and benevolence.

However, Mr Darko believes that whether he wins the party slot or not, Suame Constituency deserved a permanent office complex which would be its bona fide property.
He is the first to boost the morale of the members and also take their minds off the issue of where to go if they were ejected from their current temporary abode.

Addressing delegates in Suame to round up his interaction with the nearly 500 delegates, Lawyer Darko said he was in the race to ensure that the creeping apathy among some voters, especially NPP supporters, that was gradually rearing its ugly head was nib in the bud.

Answering questions from the delegates, Mr Darko said there was ample evidence that there was voter apathy among some of the committed members of the party, some of whom believed that they needed a change of leadership.

He explained that out of this apathy, some voters failed to vote for the party’s presidential candidate, a trend which had affected Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s votes in 2008 and 2012 elections.

“I am coming with new and fresh ideas, dedication and determination to whip up the interest of our voters in Suame to up in their numbers to vote overwhelmingly for me and Nana Akufo- Addo on December 7, 2016”, he said and added that he would ensure that Nana Akufo-Addo secured a resounding one time victory.

A delegate, who gave her name a Mercy Ntiamoah, said she had followed Mr Darko for some time and commended him for sustaining his clean and issue based campaign which was devoid of personality attacks and mudslinging.

She also saluted the constituency executive for the eagle eyes monitoring and supervision of all meetings between the aspirants and the delegates to ensure that foul language that tend to divide the party was never encouraged.

Amidst applause for her comments from her colleagues, she cautioned all the aspirants to ensure that their campaign did not divide the party but bring unity and also attract other voters from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other political parties as well as floating voters.
