NPP primaries: Bortianor Ngleshie-Amanfro voting peaceful

Voting in the New Patritic Party (NPP) primary at the St. Karol Nursing School of the Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro constituency of the Greater-Accra Region got off at 7am, the stipulated time.

There are six electoral areas in the constituency, namely; Galilea, Bortianor, Akwaasa, Kokrobite, Tuba and Ngleshie Amanfro.

The Incumbent, Alhaji Saad Habib is facing stiff competition from other four aspirants. The four are Sylvester Matthew Tetteh, Frederick Abban, George Osei Wadee and Gifty Mensah.

The Presiding Officer of the center, Mr Nicholas Tackie told Graphic Online that all materials needed for the election were provided on time enabling elections to start as scheduled.

Only 13 delegates out of a total of 92 delegates had cast their votes as at 8:15am.

Observation

All protocols put in place to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease including the wearing of face masks, washing of hands as well as social distancing were being observed.

About seven police officers were at post to ensure a peaceful and violence free elections.

Mary Star of the Sea International School

At the Mary Star of the Sea International School polling centre at Ngleshi Amanfro, Veronica buckets filled with water as well as hand sanitizers were positioned at the entrance for delegates to wash and sanitize their hands before taking part in the voting process. They also wore face masks.

As at 8:57am, 42 delegates out of the expected 171 had cast their ballots while a few people were waiting to cast their votes while some who had finished voting hanged on to observe the process.

The Presiding Officer, Mr Samuel Mingle said election had so far been peaceful and smooth.
