The New Patriotic Party has announced it would attend the Electoral Commission’s (EC) public forum on the voters register.

The party had early on given indications that it would not attend the two-day forum to be chaired by a former Chief Justice and Co-Chair of the Coalition for Domestic Election Observers, (CODEO), Professor V.C.R.A.C. Crabbe.

According to the party, the recommendations by the panel would be biased since its Chair,Prof. V.C.R.A.C Crabbe has publicly stated that there is no need for a new register.

But the party’s Director of Elections, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah said Wednesday that the party had notified the EC that it would take part in the forum.

According to him, the party had in point in time said it would not partake in the public forum, rather, “what we did was to raise concerns that we had on the composition of the panel.”

Mr Korsah said the party was awaiting a response from the EC, adding, however, that, “Whether the decision comes before or not, we will go and I believe that nothing stops us from registering another concern that we have at the forum.”
