NPP candidate for Ayawaso Central canvasses for votes
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mr Henry Quartey, has urged party supporters to vote massively for him and the party’s Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, in the December 7 general election.

The MP was speaking to party members at a night meeting at the Polo Park in the Alajo Electoral Area of the constituency as part of his campaign.
He noted that the NPP, under President Kufuor’s administration, dealt with the drainage problem to reduce the perennial flooding in the area. He also mentioned that the long-stretch drainage project from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle through Alajo to Dzorwulu, which was started by the NPP government, had been abandoned under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
He, therefore, asked the electorate to vote the NPP party back into power to ensure the completion of the project and other initiatives.

Mr Quartey mentioned a number of initiatives he had undertaken, including giving scholarships and educational materials to students, ensuring unity and brotherliness and general welfare support for the constituents in their times of need, as evidence that he was working for the good of the people. “It is not about me, and it is not about Nana Addo. It is about your future and the future of your children,” he added.
The MP said he provided 2,000 mathematical sets for students who wrote the last Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and also brought a clinical psychologist to interact with them during the examinations to help them study effectively and prepare well.
Mr Quartey accused the incumbent NDC government of mismanaging the economy through corruption and bad policies, which had resulted in unemployment and parents’ inability to pay school fees. He promised to work with the party’s presidential candidate, when voted them into power, to establish an ultra-modern library and research centre and create jobs for the youth in the constituency through talent development.
“There is currently no senior high school in the constituency. I shall also work to get a senior high school in the constituency,” he promised.
The MP also asked the party faithful to be vigilant and police the ballots on the election day to ensure free and fair elections. Nana Kwadwo Bediako, the party’s constituency deputy director of research and elections, used the night meeting to educate the electorate on the voting process.
