A National Executive Committee member aspirant of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Nicholas Normeshie, has pledged to strengthen the party's grassroots structures, deepen member participation and promote skills development among the youth and women to improve its electoral fortunes.
He made the pledge when he picked nomination forms to contest for one of the five National Executive Committee positions in the party's upcoming national executive elections.
Mr Normeshie, a private legal practitioner, said his legal expertise, advocacy experience and involvement in grassroots political organisation would be valuable in strengthening the party and advancing its political objectives.
He said effective grassroots mobilisation and the deliberate implementation of policies to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians were essential to consolidating the NDC's Reset Agenda.
2028 Target
Mr Normeshie pledged to work with other elected national executives to increase the party's representation in Parliament and sustain its victory in the 2028 presidential election.
He said investing in the skills development of young people and women, while creating opportunities for their active participation in party affairs, would help build a stronger and more inclusive organisation.
According to him, a well-organised grassroots base would be critical to mobilising support and sustaining the party's electoral gains.
Political credentials
Mr Normeshie served as National Campaign Coordinator for the late former NDC National Vice-Chairperson, Dr Sherry Ayittey.
He was also a member of the party's 2024 Manifesto Committee on Justice Delivery, served on an elections monitoring team and previously held the position of branch executive in the Ketu North Constituency.
The NDC's national executive elections are part of the party's internal democratic process to elect leaders who will oversee its administration, strengthen its organisational structures and coordinate its activities ahead of future electoral contests, including the 2028 general election.
