An entrepreneur aspiring to the position of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Volta Regional Deputy Treasurer, Mr Sebastian Dzakpasu, has said vigorous fundraising activities to strengthen the financial base of the party would be his priority if given the nod.
He said his campaigns to raise money for the party would involve corporate bodies, patriotic individuals and public-spirited voluntary organisations.
Mr Dzakpasu, who has already filed his nomination, said this in an interview in Ho on Friday, October 16, 2026.
He maintained that a sound financial base would enable the party to carry out its political campaigns smoothly in as many communities as possible without hindrance, and would also help reduce intra-party conflicts to the barest minimum.
Party experience
The aspirant has served at various times as a branch treasurer and a member of the Volta Regional Finance Committee before being appointed the party's South Tongu Constituency Deputy Treasurer.
He said his priorities would also include supporting responsible financial decisions that align with the collective interest of the party.
"As Deputy Treasurer, I will work to support innovative dues collection for crucial party operations," he said.
Mr Dzakpasu added that capacity building and relevant training for the various constituency treasurers in the region was also high on his agenda.
Deputy Regional Secretary aspirant
In a related development, another businessman, Mr John Paul Semavor, who is aspiring for the Deputy Volta Regional Secretary role, has said he would apply his vast experience in administration, book-keeping and knowledge of party structures to raise the image of the party in the region.
The owner of the hospitality facility, Volta Peak Cabins at Amedzofe, said he would mobilise the party's grassroots to consolidate its gains.
