They destroyed the vehicle’s windscreen, driving mirror, removed the car tape and deflated the tyres. They  also forced the constituency office opened and destroyed the office furniture, a computer and other valuables.

The aggrieved party supporters’ actions were against the re-nomination of Mr Joseph Omari as the District Chief Executive for Kwahu South.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Mr Emmanuel Atta-Obeng, the constituency chairman, said Mr Victor Benefo, the Bepong Ward Chairman of the party, had been the driver of the vehicle for some years without being paid.

He said about 4 p.m. last Monday, Mr Benefo parked the vehicle in front of the chairman’s shop, near the Mpraeso Post Office, for a discussion with him.

Mr Atta-Obeng said some minutes later, the supporters, numbering about 10, confronted the driver and demanded the keys to the vehicle.

Mr Benefo told them that he had handed over the keys to the chairman.

Mr Atta-Obeng said the supporters went ahead to vandalise the vehicle with cutlasses, hammers and other offensive weapons.

He said the incident was reported to the Mpraeso Police but no arrest had been made.
