NDC Okaikoi South organises free health screening

The Okaikoi South branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has organised a free health screening for over 1000 residents in Kaneshie and its environs.

Medical conditions checked during the exercise included diabetes, hypertension, body pains, sight, hearing, sexually transmitted infections.

Apart from checking their health conditions, the medical team also provided the residents with medications while those with complicated conditions were given medical forms to seek further treatment.

Go for check up

The medical officer who led the team, Dr Richard Mensah, advised the people to cultivate the habit of undertaking regular check-ups to safeguard their health.

He said the habit of visiting health facilities only when one was ill must be stopped as the body needed constant review.

“We must make it a point to regularly go for medical check-ups. It protects us, prevent permanent conditions that could have easily been cured and also promote a healthy lifestyle,” he added.

Eschew violence

For his part, the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Okaikoi South, Mr Abraham Kotei Neequaye, urged the people to eschew any form of violence during Election 2020.

Violence, he said, was a recipe for disaster and could derail the progress made by the country.

“We need peace in order to develop this country and progress as a country. Violence should have no place in this country. Do not see our political opponents as enemies and also do not engage in unnecessary political arguments that could flare up passions and emotions,” he added.
