NDC can’t buy conscience of Ghanaians - Kufuor

He explained that Ghanaians had already decided on the NPP because of its past solid record of achievements, as well as the policies and programmes espoused by Nana Akufo-Addo.

Former President Kufuor, who was drenched in rain water, said all those vying for the Presidency had laid bare their policies for the people of Ghana, with the NPP leader promising a transformation of the economy, freedom and justice and free senior high school education.

He told the crowd who were shouting, “Paapa oo dende”, to wit, “welcome daddy”, that unfortunately for the NDC, even though it was the incumbent government, it had failed to tell Ghanaians what it would do but had resorted to attacking the NPP.

He told the party faithful that their resistance to the rains was a clear indication that they were ready to lead the way by voting massively for the NPP to set the pace for a resounding victory, adding that even other regions which were not considered strongholds of the NPP had decided to vote in large numbers to secure victory for the NPP.

Highly enthused about the huge crowd at the Kumasi Jubilee Park who had defied the heavy rains, Nana Akufo-Addo commended the people for the honour done him and urged them to go out and vote massively again for the NPP.

He advised the people not to feel intimidated by threats from the NDC.

Nana Akufo-Addo, whose speech was interspersed with deafening shouts of ‘free education’, in apparent reference to the party’s flagship campaign message of making secondary education free, expressed surprise at the determination of the people to stay in the rains for hours.

He thanked God for seeing Ghanaians through four years of poverty and hardship brought about by the NDC government and assured them that all that would come to an end on December 7 when majority of Ghanaians would vote to kick out the NDC and usher in the NPP.

He spoke of the NPP’s plans to transform the economy, generate employment opportunities and also institute free senior high school for all.

It was at that time that the platform caved in, sending all those on it to the ground.

Strangely, when the supporters realised that the accident had occurred, and for the safety of their presidential candidate and other leading members, including former President Kufuor, many of them, especially those around the dais, went down of their knees and offered fervent prayers for God to intervene.

Minutes later, when apparently their prayers had been answered, Nana Akufo-Addo mounted the stage again, expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for making him escape unhurt and promised the people that victory was on its way.
