The 2012 flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo arrived in Tamale Thursday, ahead of the Saturday congress to a warm reception by party supporters.
The enthusiastic party faithful who thronged the Tamale airport to welcome him and some executives of the NPP chanted his name amidst drumming and dancing and singing of party songs.
Akufo-Addo was accompanied by his vice-presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Freddy Blay, Ayawaso Central MP Henry Quartey, and former Greater Accra Regional Minister Sheick IC Quaye.
In a brief interaction with the press at the airport, Nana Addo said he “expects a good and exciting conference on Saturday.”
He later visited the Tamale central mosque and some religious leaders and chiefs to seek their blessings for a successful congress.
