Naana Eyiah supports Gomoa Obuasi Health Centre

In her quest to resource health facilities to provide the best of health care to patients and residents in her constituency, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, Madam Naana Eyiah Quansah, has handed over assorted medical consumables to the Gomoa Obuasi Health Centre at a short ceremony.

The presentation was in response to a request made by the District Health Directorate to the MP for the provision of quality health care for patrons of the facility.

The items included face masks, sample containers, butterfly needles, syringes and needles, catheters, urine bags, cluffs and limb holders. Others are examination gloves, plasters, and  hollisters.

The health centre has a staff strength of 25 and serves more than 30 communities which puts a lot of pressure on the facility. Since the facility is overstretched in the provision of health care services for patients, the donation of the consumables will go a long way to enhance its operations.

Madam Eyiah Quansah commended the workers of the facility for working under difficult conditions to provide proper health care for the people in the area.

She said  as MP for the area, she would continue to seek for stakeholder support to resource all health facilities in the constituency so that health workers would always be responsive to the health needs of the constituents.

She explained that government alone could not provide the needs of the health sector adding that “such support from development partners will go a long way to improve the state of the health sector”.

Additionally, she urged the workers to use the items for the intended purpose and also ensure that the health needs of the residents were always met.

She pledged to look for more support for the health directorate to improve the working conditions of health professionals posted to the area.

The District Chief Executive for Gomoa East, Mr Benjamin Kojo Otoo, thanked the MP for the timely support as it would be a morale booster for the workers of the facility in the performance of their duties.

The Gomoa East District Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Mr Stephen S. Tie-Toh, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the MP for the assistance and said it would complement their efforts.
