A message of congratulations issued in Accra and signed by Mr Farouk Mutachilu, spokesperson for the association, commended the President for his commitment to the development of the three northern regions and the country as a whole.

It expressed confidence in the presidency of President Mahama and said the association would continue to support the government to ensure the success of its policies.

The message, however, drew attention to the dwindling fortunes of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Mamprusi area and attributed it to the leadership style of the party in the area.

“Out of the five seats in the area, the NDC managed to win only two.  This shows that the youth are not in tune with the old leaders who have been around all these years,” it stated.

The message therefore urged President Mahama to "put new wine in new bottles" and not old wine.

It expressed concern about poor development in some communities in the northern sector of the country and urged the President to open up the appointment of leadership for development.

It attributed the lack of development in the area to old faces who were the front liners and yet brought no development.

The message prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the President and commended all political parties and Ghanaians in general for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves before, during and after the elections.

It said it was the expectation of the association that the President would relentlessly strive in executing the agenda that warranted his election.

It called on the President to appoint competent people who could deliver on the job to raise the image of the north and the country as a whole.
