Mahama eulogises late Amenfi West MP

President John Dramani Mahama has eulogized the former Member of Parliament for Amenfi West Constituency, Mr John Gyetuah and described him as very important son of the land who had contributed significantly to Parliament, his people and country.

He recalled fond memories of the late MP when it comes to issues of cocoa and other agricultural related activities and said his contributions were very apt, encouraging.

Speaking at the final funeral rites of the late MP, President Mahama the late MP contributed to the formulation of policies in the sector and said he exhibited a loud voice to support those in the agriculture sector.

”He always argued for rural electrification, the road network and other issues that affect people in the region and the communities he represented and supported others on rural development issues and was appointed a duty minister by late President Mills and later full minister of state at the Presidency,” he said.

“I must say, one of the greatest desire of the late MP was how to make the communities accessible through improved road network until his demise,” he said.

President Mahama said the current improvement on the roads and the ongoing cocoa road entwork in especially the Western region were greatly influenced by the unflinching posture of the late MP to serve his people.

He said the demise of the late MP was a great loss to the country and Parliament as a whole.

He said to keep the memory of John Gyetuah and his commitment to serve his people, he has asked the Roads Minister to ensure that the 3km road to Breman, the hometown of the late MP should be asphalted as part of the ongoing road construction at Asankragwa. 

President Mahama urged the constituents of Amenfi West to ensure that there was a replacement for the late MP by voting for the NDC in Tuesday’s by-election.
