Mr Awuku said the former President recognised journalists as frontline workers whose work was crucial in the fight against the pandemic.

“With the outbreak of the pandemic, the media have not gone to sleep. The media, especially the Daily Graphic, have been providing reliable information and educating the general public,” he said.

According to him, the donation by former President  Mahama was to encourage the journalists of the GCGL to continue to serve the country by providing news for the general public, adding, “the former President wants to encourage journalists not to be afraid in going out there to look for news for the benefit of the nation.”

Relationship

The Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Kobby Asmah, thanked former President Mahama for the gesture and said it was an opportunity for the GCGL and the office of the former President to further deepen mutual beneficial relationship.

He said the fight against the pandemic was a shared responsibility which required the concerted efforts from everyone.

“We are very grateful for this kind gesture. When all hands are on deck, we will be able to overcome this pandemic that has disrupted every aspect of our lives,” he said.

The acting Political Editor of the Daily Graphic , Mr Albert Salia, also thanked the former President for supporting the GCGL, saying it would augment the safety protocols put in place by the GCGL to protect its staff from the pandemic.
