La MP launch Nyɛ Awo Kpakpa skills development training program

The Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon Constituency, Madam Rita Odoley Sowah has launched a skills development training program for the youths in her constituency with a call on them to eschew pride and indiscipline.

Madam Sowah who urged participants to take advantage of opportunities the program had to offer said, the success of the program would ensure that beneficiaries become self-employed and earn a living through decent work.

She said aside boosting economic growth and reducing gender disparity, the training program would help them become self-reliant, reduce poverty and hunger, and promote good health as well as their general well-being.

Dubbed the 'Nyɛ Awo Kpakpa' skills development training program, the five-week training program which includes cosmetology, dress and bead making, baking, hairdressing and soap making would train some 150 people from the constituency.

The program which is being funded from the MP's common fund would provide start-up kits to participants after completion of their training.

The MP explained that four out of the five weeks would be dedicated to practical training while the remaining week would see participants go through some theoretical and grooming processes to prepare them for their various fields of expertise.

Madam Sowah said changing times had taught the importance of acquiring skills and training to support oneself and their family.

She urged the beneficiaries, especially the single and young mothers among them to put in their best efforts in acquiring skills to compliment their basic source of income.

She said the acquisition of skills by these beneficiaries would not only enable them support their families but promote the transfer of knowledge to their children and equip them with the requisite skills that would arouse their interest in becoming successful entrepreneurs.

The beneficiaries in turn express appreciation for the gesture, adding that they appreciate the love and care shown towards them by the MP after taking a pledge to give off their best.

Present at the ceremony was the former Member of Parliament for the, Nii Amasah Namoale and a host of NDC constituency executives.
