Kwaku Godwin Dovlo appointed acting MD of GWCL

Kwaku Godwin DovloThe Board of Directors of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has, in line with a directive from the Presidency, appointed Mr Kwaku Godwin Dovlo as the acting Managing Director of the company with effect from Friday, April 12, 2013.

Mr Dovlo replaces Mr Kweku Botwe who has been directed to report to the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing for reassignment.

Until his appointment, Mr Dovlo, who trained as a civil engineer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, was the acting Deputy Managing Director of the company.

He brings to his new position relevant and varied experience in strategic planning, engineering, water supply operations and management.

Prior to his appointment as acting Deputy Managing Director, Mr Dovlo he had played diverse management roles in the company.

Mr Dovlo started his career with the GWCL in 1979 as an assistant engineer in Kumasi.

In 1986, he was appointed the distribution engineer for the Accra-Tema Metropolitan Area and remained in his position until 1995 when he was promoted to become the Area Engineer for the Greater Accra Region.

By dint of hard work, Mr Dovlo rose to the grade of Chief Manager in 1999 and from that time to 2008, he headed the  Upper East, Northern and Central regions in that sequence.

In 2009, he was appointed the General Manager in charge of Operations for the Western, Central and Volta regions.

A year later, he was transferred to Accra as the Chief Manager in charge of the Accra East Region, a position he held until January 2012 when he was appointed acting Deputy Managing Director.

Mr Dovlo holds a master’s degree in Sanitary Engineering from the now UNESCO-IHE (Institute of Water Education), The Netherlands, as well as an Executive Masters degree in Business Administration from GIMPA.

He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers.

He is married with three children.
