The Krowor Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted allegations levelled against the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Seth Badu Tawiah that he is giving out state lands to friends and associates. They explained that there was a land issue where the claimant of the land went to court and the High Court gave judgment in his favour on July 18, 2013, following which LEKMA appealed for stay of execution but lost the case.
According to them, even after the LEKMA had lost the case, they dragged their feet in complying with the court order which led to the MCE being cited for contempt, thereby necessitating calls from the Regional Co-ordinating Council and the legal consultants to the assembly for LEKMA to comply with the said orders.
Their reaction was contained in a press release signed by the Youth Organiser of the Krowor Constituency, Mr Raphael Borketey, and copied to the Daily Graphic.
The release questioned the rationale for undertaking an image-tarnishing campaign against the MCE and said those attempts would not only affect him as an individual but would ultimately affect the chances of the party in the 2016 elections.
The LEKMA, it explained, comprised two constituencies and two traditional areas, namely Krowor and Ledzokuku and that both areas had equal political and legal stake in the position of an MCE.
Mr Borketey said in the interest of staying focused and united, the two constituencies and the LEKMA MCE had decided to ignore other frivolous and malicious publication from the suspected individuals and concentrate on delivering the Better Ghana agenda for the good people of LEKMA.
Mr Tawiah, the release said, was a leader who was focused on the active involvement of the people and other stakeholders in the governance process, with a view to pursuing programmes that would positively impact on the lives of the people of the municipality.
The release urged the people of the assembly to remain steadfast in their support for the MCE to enable him to achieve the dreams and aspirations of the people for a Better Ghana and to also ignore any attempts by individuals or groups to divert the attention of the assembly and its chief executive from fulfilling their mandates.
The release said the people behind the efforts to smear the MCE and ensure his removal from office, just after six months in office, would fail in their attempts.
