The Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, is getting ready to host more than 6,000 members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on July 5 to 7, 2018 as new national executives are elected to steer the affairs of the party.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) established by the party's National Elections Committee has so far successfully executed about 70 per cent of its work with more than a month to the elections.Follow @Graphicgh
The Eastern Regional First Vice Chairman of the party, Alhaji Umar Bodinga, who is a member of the LOC, told the Daily Graphic that the committee had made a number of recommendations with regards to venue and hotel which were subject to approval by the National Elections Committee.
He said members of the committee had also made the necessary security arrangements, considering the number of people who were expected to throng Koforidua for the conference.
"We have been in touch with hoteliers in the region for accommodation, and scouted two venues.
“But these are subject to approval by the National Elections Committee.
“Members of the National Elections Committee will move into the region once they complete the vetting of aspirants," Alhaji Bodinga stated.
Members of the LOC are made up of the party's regional officers, including Regional Organiser and deputy, Women Organiser and deputy, Youth Organiser and deputy and the Regional First Vice Chairman.
"We are trying to co-opt some of our Members of Parliament and District Chief Executives in the region to get a broader perspective on the planning," he stated.

According to Alhaji Bodinga, there would be a total of 634 delegates from the Eastern Region alone.
The region has 33 constituencies with 17 delegates from each making a total of 561.
Additionally, there are 21 Tescon members, 17 regional officers, 26 district chief executives, seven National Council Members, and two Founding Fathers of the party.
" All these people are expected to cast their vote," Alhaji Bodinga reiterated.
