Kofi Jumah arrested for assault

The former Local Government Minister, Maxwell Kofi Jumah is in the grips of the Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for allegedly assaulting a man he claims stole his mobile phone, it has been reported.

According to an report by Accra-based Citi FM, Mr. Jumah was at the Regional Police Command in Kumasi on Friday to write his statement on the allegations being leveled against him.

The former Member of Parliament for Asokwa  has, however denied the claims, stressing that it was his bodyguard who beat the man up.

Jumah said he rather to save the man from being beaten up.

The victim, Jamal Agah, denied stealing the said mobile phone, claiming it was a case of mistaken identity.
