Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday September 19, Mr Jinapor questioned how the government handled funds it collected under the Energy Sector Levy Act-ESLA-and accused officials of mismanaging those funds.
The Ranking Member on Parliament's Energy Committee alleged that the Ministry of Finance has failed to settle GH¢1.8 billion owed for electricity consumed by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies since August 2023.
He warned that unless something urgent was done, the continuous debt would make the power sector unable to operate effectively.
