"We will break the 8. The Ashanti Region and my Manhyia South Constituency cannot be left out of the upcoming overwhelming victory", he told enthusiastic supporters and urged them to rally support behind the party.

Dr Opoku Prempeh, who is the outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, was addressing party supporters after a health walk and symposium by the NPP Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region last Saturday.

The event was also used to introduce Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, as the NPP parliamentary candidate for Manhyia South and successor to Dr Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called 'Napo', ahead of the December 7 elections.

Health walk

The walk dubbed: " Nyame ay3 awie", a twi phrase which means "God has done it" brought together thousands of supporters, including prominent figures such as Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party’s General Secretary; Francis Asenso-Boakye, the MP for Bantama; Vincent Ekow Assafuah, MP for old Tafo, and Manaf Ibrahim, NPP's parliamentary candidate for Asawase.

Among other groups that took part in the walk include 'Ladies for Napo', ' Ashanti Region for Bawumia', as well as ‘Gen Z for Bawumia’ and ‘Gen Z for Napo’.

Clad in party paraphernalia, some of the participants also displayed placards, some of which read: "Break the 8", "Bawumia-Napo - Perfect Pair", "Ashanti Region would thank NPP on December 7", " God has done it", and "Lawyer Baffour Awuah perfect candidate".

"Apt successor"

Addressing the party faithful after the four-hour walk, Dr Opoku Prempeh described the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the Manhyia South as an "apt successor", and that he has paid his dues and was undoubtedly the absolute bet for the constituency to retain the seat.

According to him, the candidate was indeed someone who had the constituency at heart, and assured him and the constituency of his continued support to the party.

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah assured supporters that he would maintain the status quo of keeping the seat safe for the NPP and forge ahead for ultimate victory.

He encouraged the supporters to continue to work hard towards the expected victory, and advised them to carry on with their political outreaches devoid of insults.

The Manhyia South Constituency chairman of the NPP, Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, said the constituency was set to record its biggest votes ever in any elections, come December 7 and that the indications were clear.
