The United Party (UP) has expressed confidence that the newly announced 15th Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Bonsu, will complement efforts to promote education and human capital development within Asanteman and beyond.
The party said her appointment reflected the ideals of good governance long championed by the Manhyia Palace.
In a statement signed and issued by UP’s Director of Communication and Spokesperson, Solomon Owusu, the party said it received the announcement of Nana Ama Bonsu with "great joy and hope".
The statement described the new Asantehemaa as an accomplished educationist whose experience would help strengthen initiatives aimed at empowering women and the youth across the country.
Education focus
"As an accomplished educationist, UP expects that she will complement the effort of empowering women and youth throughout Ghana and beyond," the statement said.
It added that education remained central to the party's vision for national development and economic transformation.
"As a political party, we prioritise empowering the country's human resources through diverse educational strategies as part of our core objective of transforming Ghana," the statement said.
The UP said it believed that investing in education and human capital development was critical to building a prosperous and inclusive society.
