The Upper West Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Basiera Saankara, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of National Youth Organiser.
Mr Saankara made the declaration at a gathering attended by constituency executives, youth working committee members, TEIN patrons and executives, and other party faithful in Wa last week.
In his address, he said his over two decades of service to the NDC had prepared him to lead the party's youth wing at the national level.
"For over two decades, I have dedicated my entire youthful life to the service of the National Democratic Congress.
My journey has been defined by loyalty, commitment, and grassroots mobilisation," he stated.
Vision
He outlined his political trajectory, which began in the Wa West Constituency and progressed to the Regional Secretariat. His roles have included Assembly Member, Presiding Member, District Chief Executive, and Regional Youth Organiser, as well as Deputy Regional Organiser and Constituency Youth Organiser for Wa West.
Mr Saankara praised the outgoing national youth leadership, led by Lawyer George Opare Addo, Lawyer Osman Ayariga, and Comrade Ruth Seddor, for keeping the wing strong.
He pledged to continue from where they would leave off, addressing gaps and taking the youth organisation higher.
The aspirant emphasised that his campaign was built on a solid record of service rather than empty promises.
"Leadership is not about tenuous promises; it is about solid records.
My record is one of service, of organising, of grassroots leadership, and of unwavering commitment to the NDC," he said.
Mr Saankara called on constituency youth wings, TEIN comrades, regional executives, and delegates nationwide to support his bid, promising to build a more attractive and resource-empowered youth wing.
He stressed that his approach would be marked by confidence without arrogance, courage without boastfulness, and experience tempered with humility.
“Offices come and go, but service remains.
The NDC has been my family and political home, and the youth have been my strength. Today, I take the next step in that journey," he added.
