Parliament resumes November 3

Parliament is scheduled to resume sitting on Tuesday, November 3, this year, for the Third Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

A notice issued by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, said the meeting would commence at 10 a.m. at Parliament House in Accra.

The notice, dated October 20 this year, was issued pursuant to Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament.

The resumption is expected to enable the House to continue its legislative and oversight responsibilities, including the consideration of government business and other matters referred to it.

“Pursuant to Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament of Ghana, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the Third Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic shall commence on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon at Parliament,” the notice stated.

Previous recalls

The House was initially expected to resume in mid or late October this year. However, the scheduled date has now been set for November 3 this year.

Since the House adjourned sine die on Friday, July 31, this year, Parliament has been recalled twice for special sittings.

The first recall was on Monday, August 24, this year, when the House reconvened following a directive by the Speaker.

Key business included the vetting and approval of ministerial nominees and Supreme Court nominee-designates.

The Speaker subsequently summoned Parliament to sit on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, following a petition by Minority MPs seeking an inquiry into recent narcotics seizures within and outside the country.
