NPP must strengthen grassroots to win 2028 — Osumanu

An aspiring Second Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the New Juaben South Constituency, Alhaji Hamza Osumanu, has pledged to help strengthen the party's grassroots structures to enhance its chances in the 2028 general election.

He, therefore, appealed to delegates to vote for him in the constituency executive election scheduled for July 11, saying his over two decades of service at the grassroots had equipped him for the position.

Alhaji Osumanu, a tutor at the SDA Senior High School, Asokore, made the appeal after filing his nomination at the party's constituency office in Koforidua.

Grassroots focus

He said his vision centred on strengthening party unity, improving communication and increasing the participation of the youth and women in party activities and governance.

The aspiring vice-chairman said he would also champion the welfare of party members, while promoting initiatives to build a stronger grassroots organisation.

He cited three proposed programmes — the Polling Station Unity Summit, Polling Station Connect and Catch Them Young — as key interventions to unite members and develop future leaders.

2028 election

Alhaji Osumanu expressed confidence that a united party would recapture political power in 2028, stressing that internal cohesion and loyalty to the party's leadership were critical to victory.

He also expressed confidence in the NPP's 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a leader with the vision and experience to unite the party and improve the country's socio-economic development.

He urged party members to rally behind the party's leadership to maximise the NPP's chances in the 2028 polls.
