NDC congratulates NPP on new officers

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the newly elected leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise the national interest over partisan considerations in the interest of the country’s democracy and development.

The NDC made the call in a congratulatory message to the NPP following the successful election of its new national executives over the weekend.
National interest

Signed by the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the message said the party remained committed to peaceful political engagement and the promotion of democratic values.

It expressed the hope that the new NPP executives would work with their NDC counterparts to ensure that the interest of the nation “always surpasses the narrow interest” of the two parties.

The NDC said such mutual efforts would help advance the mission of making the country “great and strong”.

Democratic gains

The governing party also emphasised the collective responsibility of political actors to protect and deepen Ghana’s democratic gains.

It congratulated the NPP on the outcome of its national executive elections and expressed the hope that the new leadership would contribute to strengthening the country’s democratic development.
