Methodist Church prays for Vice-President
The Methodist Church, Ghana, has urged all its members to stand together in prayer for the Vice-President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, interceding for her speedy recovery and return to office.
It said this should be done at all prayer meetings of the church.
The Bishop of the Northern Accra Diocese (NAD) of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Rt Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden, who gave the advice, during the opening of the Seventh Annual Synod of NAD in Accra yesterday, also condemned various social media posts that spoke negatively about the health of the Vice-President.
"It should not just be for now, but all through her tenure.
When you meet in your prayer meetings, please stand in prayer for her and all others working with her, interceding for her speedy recovery and return to office. Let us take it seriously.
"You are aware of so many things being said about her on social media, which we condemn.
It will not stand in the name of Jesus," he said.
The synod, which started on April 23 and will end on April 27, is on the theme: Discipleship: Growing into Christian maturity."

The Vice-President is a Methodist who worships with the Immanuel Methodist Society, Regimanuel Gray Estate in the Airport East Circuit of the Northern Accra Diocese of the church.
Rt Rev. Mbeah-Baiden’s call for prayers for the Vice President was contained in his address to Synod, which, among others, highlighted the achievements and contributions of members of the diocese, including Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, for assuming the high national office of Vice-President, and Rev. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko on his appointment as the acting Director-General of the National Communication Authority and Eunice Oparebea Osafo for being called to the Bar and also appointed a state attorney.
Other issues the address touched on included the fight against illegal mining otherwise known as galamsey and improving the road network in the country.
Recall
The Minister of Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in a statement, last month, said the Vice-President, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday after experiencing a sudden illness following her official duties on Friday, March 28, 2025.
It said the Vice President had received initial treatment but would seek further medical care abroad based on expert recommendations.
In a recent interview, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said the Vice-President was in good health and currently taking a short period of rest abroad, following medical advice.
He reassured Ghanaians that the country’s first female Vice-President was recovering steadily and was expected to resume her official duties shortly.
