The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma North, Kalamu Musah Adamu, has outlined a range of development projects the assembly is undertaking to improve infrastructure and living conditions across the municipality.
The projects, he said, included road rehabilitation, drainage works, education infrastructure, healthcare facilities, water supply, street lighting, sanitation and social interventions.
Mr Adamu made this known at a town hall meeting organised by the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly at the Kwashieman Presbyterian Church last Monday, to account to residents on the assembly’s performance and engage them on development concerns.
Key projects
According to the MCE, the assembly undertook dredging of the Sakaman storm drains, desilting at Kokompe and Darkuman Junction, and pothole patching across the municipality.
He also mentioned repairing streetlights as part of measures to improve safety and security in the area.
On water supply, Mr Adamu said the assembly was undertaking the construction of 300 limited mechanised boreholes to improve access to potable water.
Health, education
The MCE said the assembly was also investing in healthcare infrastructure, including the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at
Tweneboa and a clinic at Awoshie.
In education, he mentioned the construction of a three-storey, six-unit kindergarten block at the Darul Hadith Islamic School.
He also listed the construction of an Astro Turf stadium at the Methodist University among the projects aimed at improving sporting facilities in the municipality.
Social support
Mr Adamu further highlighted the assembly’s support for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), saying it had made a presentation to the group as part of its social intervention programmes.
He said the assembly would continue to pursue projects that address residents' needs and contribute to the development of the municipality.
Public concerns
The town hall meeting also gave residents an opportunity to raise concerns about roads and drainage, waste management, youth unemployment and service delivery.
Heads of departments and units responded to questions on education, health, sanitation, agriculture, social protection, business development and civil registration.
The meeting brought together the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, assembly members, traditional authorities, opinion leaders, heads of departments and members of the public.
