The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has urged constituency chairmen in the region to kick-start preparations for the 2028 general election by involving all executives.
He said constituency chairmen must respect the division of responsibilities and allow fellow executives to perform their constitutional duties without intimidation or unnecessary interference.
“Allow those elected alongside you as constituency executives to perform their duties freely, without intimidation or unwarranted interference. Together, we can restore total discipline to our party,” he said.
Mr Appiah, popularly known as COKA, made the call during a consultative meeting with constituency chairmen in Kumasi last Tuesday.
He urged the constituency chairmen to avoid centralising power or interfering with the responsibilities of other elected executives, but to galvanise other executives and party members to work for the party's success.
He noted that the NPP constitution clearly defines the roles, responsibilities and powers of each executive officer.
Mr Appiah urged them to strictly adhere to the party’s constitution in the discharge of their duties.
He said adherence to the NPP constitution was critical to promoting discipline, preventing internal conflicts and strengthening the party’s structures ahead of future elections.

He stressed that the party’s constitution must serve as the primary guide for all constituency executives in their administrative and political activities.
“I urge all of us to become sticklers for our party’s constitution and rely on it to administer our respective offices. By doing so, we will effectively root out the indisciplinary tendencies that previously characterised party operations,” he said.
Mr Appiah said under his leadership, emphasis would be placed on grassroots involvement, reconciliation, organisational discipline and strengthening party structures.
He pointed out that strict compliance with the constitution would help prevent administrative lapses, internal disputes and situations that could bring the party into public disrepute.

On behalf of the constituency chairmen, the Manhyia North Constituency Chairman, Kwaku Oppong, expressed appreciation to the regional chairman for initiating the consultative meeting.
He pledged the commitment of constituency executives to work with the regional chairman to implement his vision and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
Mr Oppong said strengthening the party at the grassroots would remain a priority as the NPP works to build a more cohesive and disciplined organisation to recapture power in 2028.
