Former NUGS president challenges KT Hammond's 6th bid at Adansi Asokwa

For the first since becoming the Member of Parliament for the Adansi Asokwa constituency in 2001, Mr Kobina Tahir Hammond is facing opposition at the constituency primary for the next parliamentary election.

For the last 20 years, Mr K T Hammond, as he is popularly known has always been selected through popular acclamation as no one has ever contested him.

However, this year, a former President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Mr Samuel Binfoh Dakwa has decided to break Mr Hammond’s monopoly and challenge him at the primary.

Mr Dakwa last Monday [January 27, 2020] picked nomination forms and indicated the time has come for the constituency to have a new breeze of leadership that would inject some hope into the youth.

Sammy Binfoh as he is popularly known said as a former students leader, he has a wealth of leadership skills at his disposal to use to champion the cause of the youth in the constituency.

He said for a native of Adansi Hwiremoase to rise to become the National NUGS president, should be inspiring enough to encourage the youth that they could achieve anything they want irrespective of where they come from.

He said his campaign would be devoid of personal attacks and insults and would be issue-based.

The incumbent, Mr Hammond who is seeking re-election for the sixth time as the MP for the constituency has also picked his nomination forms.

The constituency second vice-chairman, Mr Joshua Opare and the constituency secretary, Mr Samuel Awi, picked the forms on his behalf.
