A Senior Lecturer at the Ho Technical University (HTU) Business School, Dr Stanley Nelvis Glatey, has declared his intention to contest the seat for NDC regional secretary.
Dr Glate, who is a member of the regional communications team of the NDC, said there was the need to rebuild structures of the party, reconnect with the people, strengthen the constituencies and restore the confidence of grassroots.
He said in an interview yesterday that he would build a transparent and an accountable regional secretariat which would regularly engage constituency and branch executive to listen the concerns for appropriate response.
“As regional secretary, I will champion a secretariat that is accessible, responsive, accountable and constituency-focused,” he pledged.
Communication
Dr Glate said he envisioned a Volta Region NDC in which “every constituency felt valued, every branch felt supported, every activist feels heard and every dedicated party member had reason to continue to believe in our cause.”
He gave the assurance that he would work to strengthen communication between the regional secretariat of the party and the constituencies and equip the party structures with the relevant information, coordination and the support they needed.
“We must identify our structures early, confront them together and turn our weaknesses into opportunities,” maintained the former three-term NDC Ho Central Secretary.
Dr Glate said the strength of the NDC in the region did not lie in the regional secretariat alone, but in the collective resolve of members at the branch, electoral area, constituency and community levels.
“Our party has a proud history in the Volta Region.
But history alone cannot win tomorrow’s elections.
We must rebuild our structures, reconnect with our people, strengthen our constituencies and restore the confidence of the grassroots,” he said.
He said the time had come to rejuvenate the party’s base and establish a regional secretariat that was transparent, accountable, accessible and responsive to the concerns of party members.
“The grassroots deserve a voice. Let us rebuild the grassroots, restore hope and reposition the NDC in the Volta Region,” he stated.
