CPP is hope for Ghana —Greenstreet
The Convention People's Party (CPP) has said as a party it is the only beacon of hope for Ghana and expressed optimism of winning the upcoming December 7 general election.
The CPP says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have failed to represent the interests of the Ghanaian populace over the last 28 years, hence the CPP remained the only beacon of hope for Ghanaians.

Alternative Party
Speaking at his introduction as the Flag bearer of the party and swearing in of newly elected national executives for the December 7 general election at the party headquarters in Accra yesterday, the flag bearer of the CPP, Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, said the CPP “is the only party with alternative policies that will deliver Ghanaians from their long suffering.”
“A vote for the NDC or the NPP is a wasted vote. Whereas a vote for the CPP is a vote for yourself. Our country needs the CPP desperately. We are the only party that represents your interests, which means a vote for the CPP is a vote for yourself. Today we give you the pledge that the CPP will deliver for all Ghanaians,” he stated.
“We will deliver the social justice that will make Ghana a more equal nation. We shall implement the self-reliance that this country has been crying for. We will continue to work towards the African unity that our founding fathers saw as the only way that independent African countries could develop,” Mr. Greenstreet continued.
Inauguration
As part of its efforts towards winning the December 7 general election, the CPP inaugurated its newly elected national executives and regional chairmen with the responsibility of ensuring that the party wins the 2020 general election.
The newly elected executives, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma (Chairperson and leader), Mr. Onsy Kwame Nkrumah (First Vice-Chairperson), Mr. Emmanuel Ogbojor ( Vice Person), Mr. John Benjamin Daniels (Third Vice Chairperson), Nana Yaa Akyimpim Jantuah (General Secretary), Mr. Emmanuel Opare Addo (Treasurer), Mr. Moses Yirimbo Ambing (National Organiser), Aisha Sulley Futa (National Women Organiser) Mr. Osei Kofi Aquah (National Organiser) and Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet (Flag bearer) are expected to bring their skills to bear and devise strategies that will ensure that they wrest power from the NPP.
Atmosphere
The inauguration was hugely attended by regional executives and regional chairmen of the party.
Some dignitaries present included the Chairman of the Council of Elders, Mr. Felix Amoah; the Chairman of the Oversight Interim Committee (OIC), Mr. R.O. Frimpong Manso, and the outgoing acting National Chairman, Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim.
The party headquarters was flooded with a sea of white, red and green colours of the party as the national officers and party faithful, clad in party apparels and paraphernalia, sang CPP and freedom songs.
Hard work
Swearing in the executives, the Chairman of the Council of Elders charged them to work assiduously to deliver victory for the party come December 7.
Mr. Amoah expressed worry about the internal frictions that had bedevilled the ranks of the party over the years. That, he said, had hampered the fortunes of the party in successive general elections, hence the need for unity as the party prepared for the upcoming general election.
Commitment
For her part, the newly elected National Chairman of the party, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma, expressed her commitment to uniting the party to enhance its chances of winning the December 7 general election.
“The CPP that gets zeros at the polling station is a CPP of the past. The new CPP is committed to attracting true ‘Nkrumaists’ and a new generation of voters that are tired of the games of the NDC and NPP. Enough is enough. Ghana’s destiny remains in our hands,” she stated.
