Church of Pentecost, police launches “Agent of Peace Campaign”
The Church of Pentecost in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service has launched the “Agent of Peace Campaign” to promote peace in the Kwahu West constituency of the Eastern Region during the election period.
The campaign which was launched last Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Nkawkaw aimed at sensitising members of the constituency with messages of peace especially political party fanatics in the build-up to the general elections.

The campaign dubbed “One Ghana, One Nation” brought all political party executives and parliamentary candidates in the constituency together to campaign for peace to foster unity before, during and after the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Call for unity
All four Parliamentary Candidates (PCs) contesting for the Kwahu West constituency seat; Mr Joseph Frempong of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Francis Oppong of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Mark Osei Yeboah of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), and Mr Lawrence Agyepong of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) rallied their supporters to strive for unity and promote the relative peace of the country above any political interests.
The Parliamentary Candidate of the NPP, Mr Frempong called on the constituents to prioritise the development of the constituency base on the ideas advanced by candidates and not become merchants for distorting the unity of the constituency.
The Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC, Mr Oppong also urged the youth to refrain from electoral misconduct including unlawful removal of posters and banners of political opponents which, he said, often results in disagreement among party supporters in the constituency.
On his part, the Parliamentary Candidate of the CPP, Mr Yeboah, urged the youth to be responsible in their actions during the election period in order not to breed violence.
Mr Agyepong of the GUM party also charged the youth to be ambassadors of peace. He urged them to reject politicians that would want to employ them for unproductive services that may jeopardize the peaceful atmosphere in the constituency.
Vigilance
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kwahu West, Mr Yaw Owusu Addo in his address urged the political parties and their representatives to remain vigilant during the election period and not create any fertile grounds that would foment violence due to disagreement on election results.
He added that PCs and other political party representatives should do their home work and campaign with decorum in the constituency in order not to provoke political opponents to degenerate into violence.
Security
The Head of the Church of Pentecost in the Kwahu West Municipality, Prophet Robert Kwabena Dentu said the police and other security services should be circumspect and ensure uncompromised security during the period of the elections to safeguard the integrity of the election.
He urged them to maintain their neutrality and give fair treatment to all during the crucial periods of the election.
He called on politicians to act as peace agent and ambassadors to foster unity and spirit of patriotism among Ghanaians before, during and after the election on December 7.
