Speaking at Aburi last Friday after receiving endorsement from the 32-member assembly who voted for him, he said he was particularly grateful to the assembly, supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the entire residents of the district for warmly receiving his nomination by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Mr Aidoo said unlike a few districts where the people stood up against the nomination of the President, in the case of the Akuapem South District, the people wholeheartedly supported the President’s choice.

He thanked the President for the confidence reposed in him by nominating him to represent the government in the district.

Mr Aidoo appealed to the assembly members and the people in the district to throw their weight behind the objectives and vision of the President to transform the economy of the country.

He said the district assemblies would have to work hard to achieve the vision of the government to implement policies such as the One District, One Factory and the Planting for Food and Jobs.

Mr Aidoo urged the people of the district to embrace these policies so that they could also get their fair share of the national cake.

The Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, Mr O. B. Amoah, who is also a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, also thanked the assembly members for endorsing the President’s nominee.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Michael Ahwireng, expressed the hope that all the assembly members would join hands with the DCE to enhance the process of decentralisation in the district.
