Final funeral rites for NPP's Adams Mahama on Sunday

All is set for the final funeral rites (Adua) for the late Upper East Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adams Mahama who died last month after being doused with acid by some assailants.

The Adua is a ceremony where the Holy Quran is recited for the departed soul by a Chief Imam and other Muslim clergy.

The ceremony which is taking place in Bolgatanga on Sunday June 7,2015 is expected to be witnessed by the 2016 NPP Flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other party stalwarts.

According to a family spokesperson, Mr Muazu Issaka, many party members have already arrived at the regional capital, Bolgatanga for the Adua while other party bigwigs were expected to arrive later for the ceremony.

The Upper East Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Thomas Agbanyo told Graphiconline that enough security arrangements have been made for a successful ceremony.

Adams Mahama died on Thursday May 21,2015 a day after he was doused with the acid by his assailants.

The police have arrested and accused three persons for instigating the attack. The matter is pending in court in Accra.
