Farm lands to be irrigated in 3 Northern regions - Prez

The President, who is the Presidential candidate of the NDC for the 2012 election, told the people that 16,000 farmers benefiting from improved seedlings, agro chemicals, extension and tractor services, would be increased to 25,000 next year.

Besides, more tractors will be provided on hire purchase basis to provide mechanised services to farmers.

He, therefore, asked farmers and traditional rulers to register with SADA in order to benefit from the programme.

President Mahama said with the introduction of the irrigation system and the increased support for farmers, agriculture would be boosted in the three regions to create more jobs and wealth.

“For anybody who wants to go into agriculture, he does not have any excuse,” he stressed.

On the performance of the NDC, the President said the NDC government had within the last four years extended development projects, including school blocks, dormitories, clinics, roads and electricity to all districts of the country.

He said the next NDC government would increase the pace of the development focusing on  quality education, improving the road network, growing the economy and creating more jobs for the youth.

He introduced the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Builsa North, Mr James Agala.

He also addressed a rally at Fumbisi, where he introduced the NDC Parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr Roger Akantagriwen.
