The Electoral Commission has set Monday, October 13 as the deadline for the transfer of votes by prospective candidates for the forthcoming District Assembly and Unit Committee Elections.
According to the Commission, the special exercise will enable prospective candidates desirous of contesting the elections in electoral areas and Units other than where they registered as voters to transfer their votes to enable them file their nominations and to contest the elections in those Electoral Areas or Units.
A statement by the Commission Monday said the exercise is in accordance with Regulation 20 (1) (3) (a) of the Public Elections Regulations, 2012 (C.I 75) and that all applications for transfer of votes must be made in person to the District Officer of the Commission in the district where the applicant seeks to contest the election.
