Don’t mind Afoko, NPP asks its officials and communicators

The New Patriotic Party has asked all its officials and communicators not to respond to issues raised by suspended party chairman, Paul Afoko at a press conference he held Wednesday.

The party says the very issues Mr. Afoko raised, were before the High Court in a case brought by three members of the party.

Afoko had told the press that he was proceeding to court after he failed to get the party reverse his suspension. He sees the action as an infraction on the party constitution.

But a statement issued by Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea, the party expressed surprise “that Mr Afoko will canvass, at his press conference, those same issues before the courts” of which he is aware.

Below is the statement issued by the NPP

NPP 'S RESPONSE TO MR PAUL AFOKO

The attention of the New Patriotic Party has been drawn to issues raised by Mr Paul Afoko at a press conference today, 18th November 2015. The media have also sought the party's take on the issues raised by Mr Afoko.

We note that the issues Mr Afoko raised are issues before the courts of Ghana, brought before the courts by Messrs Tweneboa Kodua and two others, represented by the same lawyers representing Mr Afoko.

Indeed, Mr Afoko made reference to these court matters when he issued a message on Monday 2nd November, 2015, to members of the NPP National Council urging them to stay away from a National Council meeting on basis of this court action.

The party is therefore surprised that Mr Afoko will canvass, at his press conference, those same issues before the courts.

The party urges all officials and communicators to desist from speaking on these matters on the airwaves, as they are now matters before the court.
