Disqualify Dr Zanetor Rawlings - 4 Petition party
Four members of the Klottey Korley Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have petitioned the party to disqualify Dr Zanetor Rawlings as the winner of the just-ended parliamentary primary of the constituency.

According to the petitioners, Dr Zanetor did not qualify to contest the primary because she was not a registered voter.
The petition was jointly signed by Mr Joseph Narku Botchway of Osu, Alhaji Mohammed Mahmud of Asylum Down, Mr Jacob Amin of Asylum Down and Rev. Michael Kwabena Nii Adjei Sowah of Osu and copied to Mr Kofi Portuphy, the National Chairman; Mr Asiedu Nketia, the General-Secretary; former President Jerry John Rawlings, founder, and Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the Director of Elections of NDC, and Dr Zanetor herself.
Party rules
The petition said “the party’s own rules that guided the conduct of the primaries provided that a member of the NDC shall not qualify to contest any primaries in any of the parliamentary seats if that member does not satisfy the requirement for election of a Member of Parliament as provided in Article 94, Section 1(a) of the 1992 Constitution”.
It added that the true meaning of the rules and the law was simply that a member was disqualified from contesting primaries if the member’s name was not on the Electoral Commission’s voter register.
“We are convinced that Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings’ name is not on the EC voters’ register considering that she was not registered in the party’s biometric register which was a product of the EC voters’ register, and which was used in the last primaries,” the petition said.
The petitioners were of the firm belief that Dr Rawlings should have been disqualified from contesting the primaries because she was not a registered voter.
“We wish to appeal to you to take the necessary steps to remedy the situation within 24 hours failing which we will advise ourselves accordingly,” it added.
